Common Questions and Answers
You might have some questions about how the zoom meeting will run or how to interact with your instructor. You can find answers to the most common questions here.

If you want to test everything is working join the zoom meeting on the day at 9:15 AM. When you join and are let into the meeting use the “Raise Hand” feature to request to be un-muted by the host. You will be able to quickly test your microphone works during this 15-minute window before the session begins. It is also recommended that you down Zoom (https://zoom.us/download) on your computer or device before the training day and test by creating your own meeting with yourself or with your friends to get used to using it. Zoom is free to use for 30 minutes.

When you first join you will be muted. To ask to be unmuted you can click the raise your virtual hand by clicking on the “Reactions” button on the bottom of the zoom screen and then selecting “Raise Hand”. You will need to wait for a host or instructor to un-mute you.

To join an online class when its time to (during a period shown on the schedule below) simply click the “Breakout Rooms” button at the bottom of the Zoom window. A window will pop-up and you can click the blue “Join” link to the right of the topic you wish to participate in. Make sure you select the blue “Yes” button to join the online class. Here is an image that might help.

At the bottom of this page is a section for Topics for each period (click here to jump to this section). You can click on each topic name to expand the topic and see more information. Inside the more information for each topic is a section labeled “This topic is designed for”. This area will tell you who this topic is for. For the example below if you are new to the Air League this is the topic, you would join. If your a Corporal or NCO, you will need to check the other topics scheduled for this period to see what suits you best. If you are unsure, check with an Officer in your Squadron or your Officer Commanding Squadron.

If you find yourself in the wrong online class or once your instructor tells you to return to the main zoom session or to leave the room, click on the blue “Leave Room” button at the bottom right-hand corner of the Zoom Window. If you don’t see this button check that your zoom window isn’t small as the button may be hidden when in a small window. After you click the blue “Leave Room” button another window may pop-up, if it does, click the blue “Leave Breakout Room” button. If your stuck, don’t worry because everyone will be returned to the main Zoom session within 5 minutes of the period ending.

To ask a Host for help click on the Chat button at the bottom of the Zoom Window to open the chat dialog. Select a Host or Co-Host from the list and type “Help” in the chat.

To change your display name click on the Participants button on the bottom of the Zoom Window, this will open a dialog to the right of the Zoom Window. Hover over your name and click the blue “More” button. Then select the “Rename” button that appears.

We ask that everyone use the name format of “Rank” “Name” (“Squadron”) similar to the below example.

All Uniform Members of the Air League can attend this Online Training Day. You can attend even if you did not register for the recently cancelled Training Camp.
